Powered by the vision of dedicated volunteers, the greater Sacramento region will one day have an exquisite, world-class Botanical Garden for residents and visitors to enjoy. Imagine almost 90 acres in South Sacramento County transformed into a cool, lush, beautiful garden that is home to unique and interesting plants, flowers, trees - and so much more.
The Sacramento Botanical Garden will serve people of all ages and from all walks of life.
It will feature a lovely and accessible path to encourage touring the exquisite grounds at a comfortable pace. Visitors to the garden may enjoy unique and beautiful artwork, a solar-powered greenhouse for tropical plants, seasonal displays, water gardens, educational exhibits, and areas specifically for students in all stages of learning.
Popular features will also include a garden-to-fork restaurant and beautiful event space for weddings, parties, and other gatherings.
The Botanical Garden will feature amenities to help visitors with physical disabilities fully enjoy the space. Today the vision of a world-class Sacramento Botanical Garden is powered by dedicated volunteers. Our top priority is working with local government leaders to secure a location, and we plan to have a decision by the end of 2024. Then the real work starts – securing private donations to fund the design and construction of the Sacramento Botanical Garden.

Throughout the world, major destination cities have included botanical gardens as one of the attractions for visitors. Think of the New York Botanical Garden, in NY, the Huntington, in the greater Los Angeles area, or the Royal Botanical Gardens in London.
These gardens aren’t just for tourists, as the psychological and health benefits of green spaces have been well documented. As open, green spaces in our cities become “developed” into housing tracts, shopping malls, and industrial or business complexes, citizens can lose their connection to the source of our food, our water, and the very air we breathe. A botanical garden in Sacramento is a way to restore our green spaces, provide a place for learning, relaxation and conservation.
